Currently, I’m reading 'The Disappearing Floor' in the Hardy Boys series. So far in the book, the plot is that the boys, Joe and Frank Hardy are on the case of a well-known jewel thief named Strang. They try to investigate the thief but his accomplices try to sabotage there boat by putting some kind of explosives into the engine compartment of under the bow of their boat. later when their boat is being fixed they take their convertible and drive up to the abandoned mansion where they believe Strang is hiding out only to find a ghostly figure that leads them through some trees so they trip some sort of an alarm causing some of Strang men to chase them back to their convertible and away from the mansion. Except for the fact that Joe, while they were sitting in the bushes watching the ghostly figure, found some kind of a brass coin with the same symbol as the one they found at the strange tile formation that they found at the top of a hiking trail. Their dad, Fenton Hardy, is a world renowned detective who is also on the Strang case. He got a tip where Strang was going to strike next so he flew out to Long Island. This was obviously Strangs plan because well he was in Long Island he committed a huge jewel robbery in Chicago which was said to be worth $100,000. Now the Hardy boys are trying to figure out where Strang is going to strike next and also how to get into that mansion to look for clues.
